Karen Burnett has been a lot of places and has done a lot of things in her life. She has flown to and visited places all over the world.But one encounter near Savannah, arguably, had the greatest impact on her life.She's had a brush in her hand ever since.After high school, Burnett took her love of art with her to Georgia Southern University, where she majored in art.
"I did not want to teach at that time, so I did the only thing that was an option for me -- I became a stewardess. It was ideal for an art lover. She visited museums in all the great cities. Along the way, Burnett also developed an uncanny ability to capture people in portraits, not unlike famous art masters she saw in international galleries.

After 31 years of flying, she retired and moved to the Georgia coast. Burnett got a real estate license and started working with her husband, Lanny. Today the two own Coastal Breeze Realty in McIntosh County.She's also found a calling in helping others learn to paint.

"Not just look, but to actually see. Observe all you can and look for color.
